What a beautiful park! Friendly and helpful staff in a unique setting: a combination of river and cypress swamp. It rained while we were here, but the site drained very well, and it proved to be no problem. It is quiet at night, well away from highway noise. The huge trees could pose a problem for opening slide-outs on some rigs; I would check my site carefully before reserving it. The amenities of Lake Charles are nearby. Signage makes it easy to get to from I-10.

Here is a park that tries to cater to nearly everyone. Yes, it is on the desert, and trees and shade are at a premium. Nevertheless, the park offers a rose garden, tent sites, wildlife, an indoor pool, store, game room, party room, a variety of planned activities, a great welcome package and friendly service. The sites are not any closer than others in parks with lots of vegetation, but it might feel like it. The laundry room was spotless. Definitely a good central location for visiting Carlsbad Caverns, Sitting Bull Falls, the Living Zoo or Guadalupe Peak.

Be certain to reserve ahead, as more and more people are discovering this cool mountain retreat. It is remote enough that the park provides cable television hookups. Go up to the Indian Lodge, a wonderfully maintained CCC constructed building. The restaurant is mediocre, but the ambiance is worth the experience. The night is dark, the stars are spectacular, the refreshing breezes in the middle of the West Texas desert are great. Take a side trip to the Fort Davis National Monument or the McDonald Observatory for a star party and a peek through a telescope at a distant galaxy or planet.

This is a beautiful, relatively secluded state park. The staff is friendly and helpful, the sites are spacious and the restrooms were spotless. Unfortunately, the turkeys were roosting, so most of the river access was closed at this time. The bird blind is a comfortable place to see a variety of species, with helpful lists and pictures inside.

Quiet, wildlife-filled park with well-spaced sites. The restrooms were spotless, and a washer/dryer just inside the bath house was a great addition. Convenient to Natchez and the Fall or Spring Pilgrimage, but perhaps too far (about 15 miles) for those who want to play in the casino. With water, nature trails, cabins to rent and beautiful scenery, this would be a wonderful place for a reunion or group camping event.

This is a beautiful place in the Sacramento mountains. (It is up for sale as of this writing also.) Full hook-ups with plenty of room. Shady spots or full sun - choose for the appropriate time of year. This park is open year round while others nearby close for the winter. The restrooms are spotless. The family owners are friendly and helpful. The river beside the park can be fished. No cell phone service at this spot in the mountains, but good cable television. There is a covered pavilion, propane available, and plenty to explore nearby.

Definitely a one-nighter. This place is really run down. The sites are not too level, there is trash everywhere, and the permanent residents have plenty of junk piled around their trailers. The little town of Edgewood has a Wal-Mart and fuel. Noise from Historic Route 66 on one side of the park and I-40 on the other could be a problem for some. Stay here when you're desperate, then move on.

What a beautiful place! Built right on the shore of Lake Okitibbee, this COE park is filled with wildlife, fishing spots and peaceful, shady campsites. When we were here, our RV was invaded by swarms of ants, huge black ones and tiny brown ones. In spite of spraying and spraying, they continued to arrive and got into everything. Locals told us it was the unusually heavy rains from the preceding week. The park gates lock at night, so be certain to be in camp before closing time.

If you're looking for all of the amenities such as a swimming pool, clubhouse, laundry, showers and playground, this is not the place for you. If, however, you need a quiet, in town, secure place to park while you explore Augusta, golf or tour the area, choose Heritage. The office is only open afternoons, so call ahead and reserve a spot. It will be carefully marked when you arrive. Plenty of room, friendly help, quiet, with a good number of older, long-term residents. The park is neat and clean; gravel and sand roads to sites with patios, some grass and some trees. It is close enough to the interstate to be very handy, yet far enough away to be quiet and secure. We would definitely choose this place again when in the area.

This park looks like a work in progress. Very friendly folks, including the workampers who were here to improve the place. They indicated that new owners were trying to "clean up a mess." It was relatively quiet, definitely out in the countryside, and fine for an overnight stop. With some tender loving care this could be a beautiful little place to stay.

This is a huge campground, close to all of the RV factory tours and the RV/MH Hall of Fame. The staff is friendly and accommodating. While it seems overpriced to me, it is near many tourist-oriented locations including the Amish country, Shipshewanna Market and lower Michigan. It is more typical of a convenient place in a big city. If you are looking for scenic beauty or quiet country surroundings, go elsewhere. If you want to be near the action, this is the place.

A beautiful little park run by a friendly young couple. They have worked hard to make the park sparkling clean, family friendly, and very welcoming. Several seasonal rigs were in place, and their owners even planted flower gardens around them. Shady sites both on or near the lake are generously sized. Rustic tent camping is available. A swimming lake, playground, pavilion, boat launch and boat rentals are all available. Also on site are a small store and laundry facilities. Definitely a place we would return to.

Definitely a family friendly campground. Many of the spaces were occupied by seasonal units. The weekend was busy with children swimming in the lake, fishing boats everywhere, and plenty of people on the grounds. By Monday morning, most of the rigs were vacant as the locals went back to their jobs. While the whole place had a rustic feel, the staff and owners were friendly and helpful. They had several summertime events planned and obviously knew many of their regular guests well. The evening we arrived a pot-luck supper was on the agenda. The last mile of road to the park is not paved.

A small park in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, this one is worth the visit. Plan to hike and enjoy the trails, which wind back and forth across the Sabinal River. The sites are spacious, with a covered picnic shelter for each one. Site #15 is my favorite. Climb to the top of the canyon on a hiking trail or leave the park to get cell phone coverage. Better yet, just enjoy the maples and the river!

While the place looks a little run down, there is plenty of room, very friendly and helpful owners, and consistent service. It is within sight of the entrance to Palo Duro Canyon State Park and $4/night less expensive to camp, plus the benefit of full hook-ups, Wi-Fi and cell phone availability. Leave your rig on the rim and drive your toad into the canyon.

Although the creek was bone dry due to the severe drought in the Texas Hill Country, this was still a beautiful park. Easy to get in and out, wide spaces. Friendly, helpful owners and staff, with more improvements being made as we were there. Spotless laundry area. Plenty of activities in the park, and several Texas attractions nearby. While they claimed their listing in the Escapees Directory was a "mistake," they offered a small discount anyway. We would definitely stay here again.

What a beautiful, isolated place to camp! We were here in November, over Thanksgiving, and nearly had the place to ourselves. The new owners are really working hard to improve this already lovely park. It will be fun to stay again and see how much progress they have made. There was random cell phone coverage in this canyon, and almost no television. The owners provided a phone at the office for campers to use. An automatic gate (pay a deposit, get a gate card) provides plenty of security. Watch the very steep downhill approach to the park.
